Stories like this sound more like fairy tales than reality, but dreams do come true, and as a real estate agent in Costa Rica, we oftentimes get to watch them unfold before our eyes. I’ll keep the names and identities private for now, but assure you that every bit of this story is 100% true and represents just one of many “fairy tales” which we have had the honor of watching unfold here in the Manuel Antonio area. It all starts with a high school love affair, crush, infatuation... call it what you will. Life separates these two love birds, as it often does; they move on, start careers, marry, have kids, raise them, and divorce. As luck would have it, after their divorces, these high school sweethearts reconnect and fall in love once again, with the second love affair culminating in a magical wedding ceremony in a destination that they shared together during their second romance as adults. A magical luxury rental home called Casa de Nubes was the setting for their small, but magical ceremony, with the Pacific Sun melting into the ocean as this couple made their vows for a life together. Weddings, romance, and magic at Tulemar are nothing new, but this story has another fold and wrinkle, which makes it even more interesting.
Given the role which Costa Rica and its natural beauty played in the rekindling of this love affair and its role as host for their marriage, this couple, now friends, started the process of looking at the opportunities to invest in real estate here in the Manuel Antonio area. Tulemar has long been one of Manuel Antonio's most exclusive communities, and with that exclusivity comes with it a premium on pricing, given the limited availability, exclusivity, and incredible rental income it has always provided its clients, combined with the amazing infrastructure and direct beachfront location. I had the opportunity to start working with these clients and opened their eyes to the stunning beauty of the southern zone of Costa Rica and the values that it provides for luxury homes with ocean views and incredible design. After an exhaustive review of the opportunities both within Tulemar, around the Manuel Antonio area, and also the southern zone gateways of Dominical and Uvita, these “newlyweds” fell in love with a stunning home in the rainforest-covered hills of Uvita. The home, called Villa Tres Ninas, while up for resale by the original developer, seemed custom-built for their tastes, vision, and budget, and it became evident this would be their “home” in paradise. I was blessed to help the couple finalize the purchase of this home, and during the process, also developed a warm friendship with them and their families, which is often the case here in Costa Rica and with our clients.
So.. high school sweethearts, separated, rejoined, remarried, and investing.. ahh it's like a movie.. Well, like any good movie, the twists and turns continue. After spending more than a year visiting and enjoying their home, this couple found themselves continually visiting Manuel Antonio, building on the friendships and bonds built here from their first visits, and questioning whether the “Right house” in the “wrong neighborhood...or perhaps just not the BEST for their vision and goals” was their new reality. Much to my surprise, they reached out to list their home once again, setting their sights on their destiny.. Half of this was already fulfilled, their reconnecting as a couple and marrying their first true love... the second was to own and build a home in Tulemar, the very spot where their life together was officially consecrated. The couple found their dream lot, worked as hard as they could, saved and designed, dreamed and built their dream. This new luxury estate home has just been completed, Casa Paz y Amor. The house of Peace and Love and while the modern, architectural masterpiece is far from a 60’s throwback, the history behind this amazing luxury rental, this amazing couples willingness and trust to follow their dreams, and seeing them materialize is what makes being a real estate agent here in Costa Rica so special.
