According to Travel & Leisure Magazine, the Country Stands Out as the Quintessential Luxury Destination in the Region.
As one of the world’s most enthralling destinations, Costa Rica is widely considered “the place to be” in Central America, an opinion that’s backed by the country’s wide range of natural attractions, unique destinations, and overall sense of safety and stability. That’s not to say that Costa Rica’s neighbors don’t have amazing places to visit, but the ticos have long benefitted from offering the whole package for tourists, investors, and new residents.
Recently, Travel & Leisure Magazine cemented this perception with its 2022 list of the 10 Best Resorts in Central America, a compilation of the most luxurious options in the region. In this case, luxury is understood in its more contemporary sense, as a blend of wellness, uniqueness, and adventure, instead of the usual high-end facilities.
With this focus in mind, Costa Rica once again led with an imposing 70% of the selections. The awards are decided by Travel & Leisure readers who share their opinions about the resorts they’ve visited, factoring in aspects like facilities, location, service, food, and overall value.
The ticos not only outmatched their neighbors in terms of volume of highly-rated hospitality options, but they also secured the top three of the list, with Arenal’s Nayara Tent Camp and Nayara Springs and Monteverde’s Hotel Belmar filling the podium. The rest of the Costa Rican selections are Rio Celeste Hideaway, Nayara Gardens, Four Seasons Papagayo, and Hacienda Altagracia.
With an increasing interest in the country and the enthusiastic traveling of a post-pandemic world, this news only doubles down on the perception of Costa Rica as one of the world’s leading destinations.
