In our search to optimize our team and have the best professionals at the disposal of our clientele, Rachel Candib recently joined our team as a real estate specialist in our Escazú office. To get to know her better, we decided to feature her in our series of blogs: Get To Know Your Agent. Rachel is a natural matchmaker! Her drive to fulfill people’s dream of homeownership in Costa Rica led her to become a real estate agent, and her ability to fit the right people with the right property is what makes her such an important part of our team. Read the interview below and contact her for more information.
1. What Was Your Dream Job as a Child?
As a child, I dreamt of training horses and being a marine biologist.
2. Why Did You Decide to Become a Real Estate Agent?
I decided to become a real estate agent because I began fixing and rehabbing homes in Arizona. I felt that I could actually sell the home best because of all the work and energy I put into it. I was very good! I have a great aptitude for listening to clients and providing them with exactly what they are looking for. In the beginning, the success that I had working as a real estate agent led me to love the social interaction and the negotiation, as well as the closing of every deal.
3. What Do You Love Most About Being a Real Estate Agent?
I love the social interaction I have with clients and best of all; when you find them “the perfect home”. I love to see the excitement in their eyes and be able to bring the property to close for them! Whether it’s an investment or a home. Knowing that your clients are not only satisfied but happy is what really makes me love my job.
4. What is the Biggest Challenge?
The biggest challenge I find as an agent in a foreign country is trying to explain in detail how purchasing works here. There are differences that they may not be used to, such as how properties are registered, taxes, and corporations. It is all super easy for me to explain because I have personally purchased many properties in this country and have assisted in numerous closings, but making the client comfortable in a foreign country as a first-time purchaser can sometimes be a bit challenging.
5. What is the Most Rewarding Aspect of Your Work?
The most rewarding aspect of my work is social networking. When I get phone calls from new people who have been recommended to me by past clients, it really makes me feel that I am really good at my job. That is super rewarding.
6. What Do You Do in Your Free Time?
In my free time, I love to ride horses, go to the beach, hike waterfalls, and mountain bike. I am a really outdoorsy kind of girl. I love to travel and eat well. If I could have the ideal job, it would include all of the above and be paid for it.
7. If You Did Not Live in Costa Rica, Where Would You Want to Be?
Costa Rica is my dream country, and the biodiversity that is found throughout the country just never gets old. I love that in 1 hour you can be at the ocean, or in 1 hour at a volcano, or in 30 minutes in a historic district, eating gourmet food in San Jose. Costa Rica is the only country I would ever want to live in. It is home for so many reasons.
8. What is Your Most Ambitious Goal in Life?
My ambitious goal right now is to one day be the top agent at 2Costa Rica Real Estate.
Be sure to tune in every Wednesday to know more about our real estate professionals.
