Read more about him in the following interview:

1. What Was Your Dream Job as a Child?

I think when I was a small child, I wanted to be like my grandparents. I either wanted to be a dairy farmer or a builder working in real estate. One of my grandfathers was a builder, and the other one wasn’t a fairy farmer, but he had a dairy farm.

2. Why Did You Decide to Become a Real Estate Agent?

Well, Langston Realty, which is now part of 2Costa Rica Real Estate, was actually my grandfather’s company. It started with my great-grandfather, who did real estate investment in Mexico and in Oklahoma in the early 1900’s. So my family has been involved in real estate-related businesses and investments since 1908, and my grandfather started Langston Realty in 1948. I didn’t go into real estate right away; I went into law, and I did real estate law, and then I went into real estate sales when I discovered that this was my family’s business for the last 100 years, and I liked the business. I went into it because I love building, developing, buying, and selling real estate. I inherited it; it’s in my blood.

3. What Do You Love the Most About Being a Real Estate Agent?

I love finding where people are supposed to fit, live, and be, and helping them be there. I love the connection of somebody with a meaningful piece of property for them.

4. What is the Biggest Challenge?

I have four kids, and my family lives part-time in San José, part-time on the beach, and part-time in the States. The biggest challenge is juggling real estate geographically, at a distance.

5. What is the Most Rewarding Aspect of Your Work?

The most rewarding part is getting good deals for people. Personally, I love it when the deal is good for everyone. When the buyer is happy with the price they got, and the seller received a meaningful amount of money, they need to do what next in their lives.

6. What Do You Do in Your Free Time?

I love to spend time with my kids, surfing, swimming, and water skiing. I also like spending time with my wife and my family. I don’t like to travel, but I travel a lot because I want to spend time with my family, and they live all over the place.

7. If You Did Not Live in Costa Rica, Where Would You Want to Live?

San Diego.

8. What is Your Most Ambitious Goal in Life?

I would love to get to the end of my life and have my kids, family, and friends say, “Well done, you lived a good life”. Also, my most ambitious goal is to raise my kids right; there is a legacy that goes beyond me, not about money, but it’s more about leaving behind kids that are well-mannered, professional, and good people.
